Hot Hotter Hottest

Great weekend we jsut had and what brilliant weather. Summer has definitely been extended here in Cape Town and we are experiencing a bit of a heat wave. Yesterday and today temparatures soarded into the 40s in many parts of the Cape. Fortunately where we were in Agulhas it only got up to 24 on Sunday so we were spared the heat.

However, on return to Cape Town we did have a rough night trying to sleep. Phew... HOT!

Today again, the kids are small sweaty sticky lumps who came home early to have a swim. The only way to keep koel is either in the pool or lying on the floor tiles!! The kids and I have done both!! still hot.

Wonderful No Music Concert

What an awesome evening I had last night. I spent the evening with great friends having a picnic at Durbanville Hills wine estate and listening to Adamsappel, a 9 man a capella group. WOW! It was brilliant. Cape Town being Cape Town, the wind got up and did try and blow things out, but it was still an awesome evening.

So what’s a capella, well taken directly from the Adamsappel website (incidentally http://www.adamsappel.co.za/) it means:
“The phrase “A capella” literally means “in the style of the chapel” which, in turn, refers to singing without instruments. So why opt for this style? Well, simply because it effectively highlights the unique union of nine extraordinary voices and diverse personalities by removing any potential distraction from the collective output. A capella is a style that simultaneously makes the performer vulnerable and victorious because it sets you free. adamsappel treads lightly over that fine line in order to maintain the delicate balance between those two poles. Our voices are our instruments. They are played by the words that leave our lips, mimicked by our movement, and conducted by our audience. The result is a co-constructed and meaningfully crafted experience that stretches beyond the realm of the audible. “
Not only was their musical talent very apparent but their sheer love and enjoyment for what they were doing. They fooled around with one another on stage, all the while not detracting from the music, but you could just see how much they were enjoying themselves.
So, if you ever get a chance to see them or hear them, DO IT! It is definitely worth while.

Where did the weekend go?

What a scorcher this weekend was. It was wonderful – muggy and a bit slow going, but wonderful. Our summer seems to have been extended a little longer and I for one am happy. Why? Well it means the kids are in the pool and not bugging me whilst I scrap. Yep, I spent the weekend scrapping and playing.
On Saturday a few friends came over and we “played”. We made cards, played with the Cuttlebug, sewed on paper and generally had a great time doing just what we wanted. It was awesome.
Sunday saw me at my table again knocking up two layouts for packs – Just a Boy and Bestest Best Friends. Still got to title the latter, oh and put pictures on them both, but essentially they are done.
Just got to finish the classes for next month now. Been working hard on those as it is a 5 week month, but I am sure it will be done soon.
Will put up pics of the layouts when they are finished.
